I like Diablo plenty, but I wasn't cutting the logo into my hair in 1996 or anything. If that's so, then good news: it's now also coming to PC, with a free-to-play open beta on June 2nd. Now that Diablo 4 has been announced (in 2019) and we've seen all the ways it's catering to fans of classic Diablo 2, perhaps the world is ready for Immortals. Blizzard's warnings didn't stop the developers from being booed on stage at Blizzcon, which seemed harsh.

Sure enough, it wasn't Diablo 4, but a mobile game called Diablo Immortal. Diablo Immortal will be released for iOS, Android, and Windows PC on June 2, 2022.Back in 2018, Blizzard teased that they'd be announcing something related to Diablo at Blizzcon but that it would not be "what many of you are hoping for". Pre-registration for Diablo Immortal is already live on this page for mobile, while Battle.Net will handle things on PC. Players will get to choose between six character classes and will have to battle some familiar baddies like Baal, one of three Prime Evils alongside Mephisto and Diablo. The company also revealed that the plot of the game is set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III. And to ensure that the finicky gesture controls on a phone don't ruin the experience, the developers have added thick black bars on all sides by proportionally shrinking UI elements such as the mini-map, ability icons, and the top-level menu buttons. And for the first time, Blizzard claims that a Diablo game will let players use the W/A/S/D directional keys to navigate their way around the map. Diablo Immortal will retain the familiar left click-heavy button combo that has been a staple of the series for character movement and abilities, but Blizzard fleshed out the former with W/A/S/D key support as an extra method for movement controls.
